How to Find the Right Size for Your Child

Use a few simple measurements to choose comfortable, well-fitting kids clothing every time.

How to Find the Right Size for Your Child

Children grow quickly, which is why many parents are not sure whether to choose the smaller or larger size. A soft fit is more important than a tight one, and a little extra room can make clothes last longer.

Measure Before You Order

Use a soft tape measure and keep your child relaxed while you measure. The most useful measurements are chest, waist, hip, height, and for shoes, foot length.

  • Chest: measure around the fullest part of the chest.
  • Waist: measure around the natural waistline.
  • Height: have your child stand straight against a wall.
  • Foot length: measure from the heel to the longest toe.

Check the Product Size Guide

Many styles fit differently, so always check the size guide on the product page. If the guide shows a range, choose the size closest to your measurements.

When To Size Up

Choose the next size up if your child is between sizes, if the fabric has no stretch, or if the garment is likely to be worn for several months. This is especially useful for coats, sleepwear, and school clothes.

Signs of a Good Fit

A well-fitting garment should allow easy movement without feeling loose or baggy. Shoulders should sit naturally, sleeves should not pull, and waistbands should stay in place without being tight.
